Cinematographer Ekambaram is all praise for Vijay, for the actor’s performance in his 50th film ‘Sura’. “He took immense pains to ensure that stunt and song sequences are picuturised well,” says the cameraman, who made his debut with Vijay’s ‘Thamizhan’.
“Some of the scenes were shot at mid sea, that too during midnights. Unmindful of the risk involved, Vijay gave full cooperation to us. Each and every scene is going to be a highlight thanks to his performance,” he says.
Explaining one such scene, Ekambaram says, “Vijay had to perform some difficult dance movements when we were shooting a song sequence (‘Athiradi Athiradi….’) in Thailand. Despite our requests to can it in a studio, Vijay performed it on the road itself. That’s Vijay.”
Throwing light on a stunt sequence, he says, “A thrilling fight choreographed by Kanal Kannan was shot in mid sea, for which we had to sail 8 km from Tuticorin. Vijay had to test waters with Bangkok stunt artistes. We feared a lot since there was huge risk. But Vijay performed the scene with ease.”
