Tamannaah performance is Very poor

Milky white beauty Tamannaah, who is said to be the the most happening heroine of kollywood with hand full of projects and also with many hits in her short span of career, has been facing controversial statements from one of the well known kollywood director Solai Raja.

In a recent press meet held in Chennai, the director stated “When compare to stars like Asin, Nayanatara and Trisha, Tamannaah’s performance is average, to be frank very poor. She is nowhere near to these three top stars. She is getting plenty of offers only because these three top stars are now concentrating other than Kollywood. That’s why Tamannaah is getting offers. Otherwise, she needs to find some other place for her work.”

I don’t think Tamannaah is as beautiful as the three stars. Moreover, her body language is also very poor. I have no enmity with that girl Tamannaah, but when she is compared with these three stars she ranks very poor in all aspects. She may be a leading star and have number of films in hand, but it doesn’t mean that her performance, beauty and body language is very good. Still she needs to upgrade herself. This is my personal opinion about her and I knew that my opinion doesn’t affect her career anyway.”

Jyothika angry with Hubby Suriya

If there is one thing a man can’t handle about his wife then it is the after effects of her wrath. Right now, one of our noted stars seem to be in the line of fire. He is none other than the hot star Suriya and as expected, he has been getting some stiff stick from his darling wife Jyothika.

It is heard that Jyothika shouted on Suriya for appreciating the beauty of Anushka in front of her. The impact was so strong that she didn’t talk to Suriya for two days. Well, it took some persuasion and apologies to get her back on track for Suriya, as per friends of the couple.

They also add that Jyothika is said to be possessive about her hubby and with someone as tempting as Anushka around, the insecurity feeling was quite natural. Suriya and Anushka paired up for the film ‘Yamudu’ and recently, the stills of the film were released in Telugu as well.

It's my responsibility: Suriya

"My market value has increased after ‘Ayan’ and it is my responsibility to give good films. ‘Singam’ is one such movie that would satisfy all sections of the audience," says Suriya.

The actor, who is eagerly expecting the film's release this weekend, says, "Singam is my silver jubilee film. It is a commercial cocktail, meant for family viewing. It has action, sentiment and good comedy, thanks to director Hari."

"In 13 years of my career so far, I have seen many ups and downs," the actor says and adds: "This is my third film with Hari (after Aaru and Vel) and my second with Sun Pictures (after Ayan)."

"When we decided to do a cop story, we were conscious that it should not have any traces of ‘Kaakha Kaakha’ or ‘Samy’. In a way, ‘Singam’ is about a kind-hearted khaki man who loves his culture, tradition and people around him. But a series of events forces him to take a violent path."

Up in arms against Vijay

Vijay's recent not so impressive record at the box office has upset many and particularly the exhibitors who are last link in the chain of film making. Theatre owners in Tamil Nadu have called for an emergency meeting to discuss the status of screening Vijay films in future.

Theatre owners in Tamil Nadu charge that in the last five years Vijay has done seven films and they have suffered huge losses as they all failed to click. Out of Aadhi, Pokkiri, Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, Kuruvi, Villu, Vettaikkaran and Sura released in the last few years they say only ‘Pokkiri’ fetched them profits.

To compensate the losses they incurred by screening the above films the theatre owners are asking Vijay to do a film exclusively for the theatre owners. If not they will issue a red card to the actor and will not screen Vijay films in future.

To discuss the issue further theatre owners are holding an emergency meeting tomorrow May 22. This sudden development is closely watched by the industry.

Vikram in Gautham's direction

Tamil cinema has never failed to present big surprises to the audience in regular intervals. One such project is currently in the pipeline, which would bring together Vikram and Gautham Vasudev Menon.

If sources are to be believed, it is a long time wish of both the actor and the director to work together, which is turning into a reality now. "However, it may take some time for the project to take off," they say.

Elaborating more on the film, sources add: "Currently, both Vikram and Gautham are busy with two projects each. While Vikram has a film directed by Selvaraghavan and the other with Boopathi Pandian, Gautham is at present busy making a quickie after which he would direct Ajith's 50th film."

"After the completion of these projects, they would join hands for the new film. We expect the project to go on floors by the beginning of 2011. As usual, Gautham would make the film on a first copy basis to a top producer."

Is really ‘VTV’ and ‘Paiya’ worth running in theatres?

The newspaper ads have been carrying certain taglines of publicities that these films are still running house packed. Oops! it was really disappointing to witness the theatres empty for past three weeks. Devi Cinemas has three shows of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya’ and yet there are hardly 20 audiences for every show.

Similarly, Lingusamy’s ‘Paiyaa’ was yet another terrific flop as the audiences yelled at the film right on the first day first show itself. Now, the producers are publicizing the film like a kind of those successful film leagues that had real worth.

Regrettably, as there are no movies to watch for this summer, the audiences are forced to watch these films.
